Jammu, October 09: National Panthers Party held an urgent meeting in Jammu, the winter capital of J&K urging the President of India, Ramnath Kovind for urgent intervention to postpone BDC elections of Panchayat which were announced last week when the almost entire state was under curfew. It is only a day before when J&K administration declared that the administration was releasing political prisoners from jails and directing schools to reopen.
Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party urged the President to postpone the BDC elections which are being held on October 24, 2019, in the undivided J&K. Jammu and Kashmir shall undergo through reorganization on the midnight of October 31, 2019, resulting into creation of two Union Territories, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir reducing J&K into Union Territory. The Panthers Party urged President to postpone Panchayat, BDC elections as there is no communication in entire Jammu and Kashmir. There is no telephone connection till today with the political activists or districts in Kashmir Valley as well as Districts of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban even in Jammu province.
9th of October is the last date for filing nominations for BDC election when there is no communication of the party leadership with district or block leadership particularly in Kashmir region and five districts of Jammu. The President is urged to issue a direction to the Governor of J&K as J&K state (till October 31) is under President’s Rule and the President is only competent authority to take such a decision. The elections in the BDC cannot be held because of the political reasons, a total breakdown in communication, non-access with the districts political parties even. No political party except the government can interact or communicate with the administration at the block level.
Prof. Bhim Singh urged the President to postpone the election after the political situation is brought to normalcy. All the political prisoners detained under PSA are released and the political parties can contact respective leadership at the block level. He said that this election shall prove a total disaster in the history of J&K. The political parties particularly the nationalist, recognized by the Election Commission of India shall be denied all opportunities even to contact their candidates (Panches and Sarpanches) to hand over the nomination letter to the respective candidates.
The administration in J&K is running only for BJP and entire political work is being done by the government employees. The NPP urged the President for his intervention to postpone BDC elections till government offices and the educational institutions start functioning in the state. Prof. Bhim Singh also urged the President to postpone the application of the Parliament decision for the creation of two regional states, Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir till the normalcy is restored.
Prof. Bhim Singh also warned that such an attempt to hold forcible and fraudulent elections in the BDC in J&K shall prove a counter-productive act. He hoped that all political parties in J&K shall also support this move without any delay so that the present anarchy and misadventure shall not go against the national interest. NPP Supremo applauded the Panthers Party leadership for its very valuable and nationalist role in putting all its efforts to put up BDC candidates wherever the block leadership could be contacted.
