Amazon and Google Finally End Streaming Video Feud
Google will include Amazon Video Streaming App Prime Video & Amazon will Bring Back Youtube
After a feud that’s lasted years, Google & Amazon have made peace and finally agreed to put their streaming apps on each other’s platforms.
The official YouTube app will come to Amazon Fire TV devices and Fire TV Edition smart TVs, while the Prime Video app will come to Chromecast and other devices with Chromecast built-in.
The dispute started in late 2015 when Amazon decided to stop selling Google’s Chromecast devices. That was right around the time Amazon ramped up its small form factor Fire TV Sticks, a direct competitor to the Chromecast.
Both the two announced on Thursday that Google's YouTube app will now be available on Amazon Fire TV devices, and Amazon's Prime Video service would become available on Chromecast devices.
Up until now, Amazon and Google had prevented their respective video services from being available on each other's TV streaming platforms.
