BJP complains to Election Commision against Congress
Jammu, April 18: Taking strong note of an audio clip of Waqar Rasool Wani (Ex-MLA Banihal), which was sent by him to various social media groups, voters of Erstwhile Doda region in which Wani was campaigning in favour of Congress candidate Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency on the date of polling i.e. April 18, 2019.
In a complaint filed BJP through Liaison team members with election authorities Advocates Parimoksh Seth and Hunar Gupta, the BJP has requested the Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral of J&K to take action against Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Opposition Rajya Sabha, Waqar Rasool Wani, Ex- MLA Banihal and Vikramaditya Singh Congress candidate for registration of FIR for violation of Model Code of Conduct as Waqar Rasool Wani was not only campaigning on the day of voting in violation of Model Code of Conduct but also directing voters from a particular religion and region to come out and cast their vote in favour of Congress candidate on communal lines. In the audio message, Wani is heard saying that Ghulam Nabi Azad who is campaigning in Kerala called him up and directed him to appeal to the voters of Erstwhile Doda region belonging to a particular community to cast their vote on communal lines.
BJP in the written complaint has called upon the Election Commission to take appropriate action under rules and regulations governing Model Code of Conduct and relevant provisions of RPC by registration of FIR against Azad, Wani and Vikramaditya. A copy of the audio message has been provided to Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu. Parimoksh and Hunar further demanded that Azad should be debarred from campaigning for Congress in the country. It was also brought to the notice of Election Commission of India that despite earlier complaints filed against Waqar Rasool Wani and Indira Bhalla W/o Rama Bhalla for violation of Model Code of Conduct and asking for votes on communal lines but no action has been taken till date against the said persons.
