Kathua, September 09: As part of mega awareness initiative by the Kathua District administration “Saksham: Hamari Betiyan Hamara Abhimaan” under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, District Information Centre organized an inter-school symposium on BBBP at Government High School Parliwand, here.
As many as, eleven students from different Government schools viz Government Middle School Kathua A, Government Middle School Kathua B, Government Middle School Rajbagh, Government Girls Middle School Parliwand, and Government High School Parliwand Kathua participated in the symposium.
Expressing their views, the participating students highlighted the contribution of females in every field shouldering responsibility at par with their male counterparts.
The speakers also enlightened the audience with Indian mythological references regarding the importance and respect for females during that era. Some of the speakers laid thrust on giving equal opportunities to a girl Child and curb the menace of sex determination and female foeticide from society.
Headmaster Government High School, Parliwand Shinghara Singh, who was chief guest, said that no society can develop and progress without the contribution of women adding that proper education of girls and awareness is key for bringing attitudinal changes in society.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Vishav Bandhu Sharma, who was the guest of honor, lauded the participating students and appealed them to spread the message in their respective neighborhoods.
A panel of judges adjudged the participants of the symposium. Naina Sumbria of Government High School Parliwand bagged the first position, Samridhi Kapoor of Government Middle School Girls Parliwand clinched second place while 3rd position was secured by Sahil Kumar of Government Middle School Kathua B.
Later, Chief Guest gave away certificates and trophies to the participating students.
