Jammu, August 14: Dogra Degree College on the auspicious national festival, “Independence Day” celebrated its 73rd Azadi Diwas in Bari Brahmana with great pomp & show. Speaking on the occasion, Director Administration and Campus Development said that the freedom we enjoy today was not served to us on a platter. Our valiant freedom fighters earned it with their blood.
He further added that the onus to safeguard the freedom lies with the youth of the country. He also asked the students to put in their best to bring laurels to their parents by working hard and earn a position of repute in the society.
Janvi Gupta from B.A. 3rd Semester, Shubham Rana and Sudanshi Gupta from B.Com. enlightened the audience on their vision of Independence. Shubam Sharma of B.A. 1st Semester, Abhinandan of BBA 5th Semester and Vijay Singh of B.A. 3rd Semester, each recited poems that filled the audience with the feeling of patriotism.
A scintillating group song performance was given by Taranveer, Janvi and Shallu on the melodious song “Teri Mitti”. Prominent among those present on the occasion were Colonel (retd.) K.N. Padha, Director Dogra Group of Colleges and Bela Thakur, Principal Dogra Degree College and the staff of Dogra Degree College.
