Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party
Jammu, Aug 13: Unable to digest the bold and historic decision taken by the Modi government to undo the political blunders of Congress, its leadership is once again promoting Pakistan’s agenda on Kashmir through motivated and irresponsible statements asserted Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party.
The hurried press conference called by Rahul Gandhi in midst of the ongoing CWC meeting was an example of irresponsible and immature behavior wherein he attempted to build a false narrative of violence in Kashmir when no such incidents had taken place across the state accused Brig Gupta. By doing so he was only promoting Pakistan’s agenda of falsely blaming the government of committing atrocities on Kashmiris. It is regretful that while Pakistan failed to gather any support internationally to its false propaganda, it found a willing ally in Congress within India rued Brig Gupta.
It is not for the first time that the region has been witness to restrictions. Kashmir had seen long spells of curfew in the past in 1993, 2008 and 2016. However, there is a marked difference this time for which the government needs to be complimented. While in the past also the curfew was imposed to prevent loss of lives or loss to government properties yet large scale violence was resorted to leading to injuries and deaths. No such incident has been reported in the last nine days which shows the alacrity with which the government has acted this time stated Brig Gupta.
Rather than cooperating with the government, Congress is trying to vitiate the peaceful environment through provocative statements rued the BJP spokesperson.
While Pakistan has realized the futility of its hostile attitude due to no takers of its malicious and false propaganda as is evident from the statements of it's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Congress leadership is not only hell-bent to vitiate the situation but stoke communal divide as well. Taking to task Congress leaders Chidambaram and Mani Shankar Aiyar for their communally loaded statements, Brig Gupta termed Congress as the enemies of secularism and promoter of communal politics. By drawing a comparison between Palestine and Kashmir, stating “if J&K was a Hindu-dominated state, the BJP would not have done this. They did it only because the region is dominated by Muslims,” Congress has not only exposed its communal mindset but also displayed its hunger for power even at the cost of nation’s unity asserted Brig Gupta.
India not only houses the second-largest Muslim population in the world but is also home to the largest Muslim population in a non-Muslim country. Unlike Muslim countries which are divided among Shias and Sunnis India proudly houses all sects of the Muslim faith. Muslims form an integral part of India’s ecosystem and live happily in almost every state of India with Lakshadweep having almost 97% Muslim population. None of them enjoy any special provisions. “Why should Congress, therefore, advocate for special status for Kashmiri Muslims? Congress through its policy of manipulation and achievement has only alienated the Kashmiris and still continues to promote the status quo,” said Brig Gupta. According to him, “the nation wants to change and that is what the Modi government has delivered. Resistance to change is a natural phenomenon and things will soon return to normal heralding J&K on the path of unprecedented development.”
