28th Annual Dera Kesari Dangal
Jammu, April 14: Pahalwan Vikas of Bahadurgarh (Haryana) lifted the 28th Annual Dera Kesari Dangal defeating Sagar of Uttar Pradesh in the title bout that took place at Holy Shrine of Dera Baba Banda Bahadur in district Reasi.
Dangal was organized by Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Prabandhak Committee, Baba Banda Bahadur Sikh Samardi in association with J&K Indian style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Association president, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Baba Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi (Gaddinasheen).
Social worker and ex-Sarpanch of Noorwala (Panipat), Dharambir Gurdatta was the Chief Guest, who distributed cash prizes among the winners and runners-up wrestlers. Shiv Kumar Sharma was the guest of honour.
Prof Parambir Singh of Punjab University Patiala, Krishan Paul Jawa vice chairman of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Sikh Sampardai, BK Sharma, Sub- Inspector, Sarpanch Bodh Raj and Sarpanch Sukhdev Singh were among other prominent presence.
In all, 24 bouts took place in this day-long dangal. Winner of the main bout, Vikas awarded with Rs 500o cash prize while runners-up wrestler got Rs 4,000.
Dera Baba Banda Bahadur Prabandhak Committee members and technical officials included Baba Jatinder Paul Singh Sodhi (Gaddhinasheen), Malik Ram Lubhaya Paruthi (chairman), Ved Parkash Makker, Mohd. Fareed, Tulinder Kumar, Munshi Ram and Murli Dhar (Munna).
