Jammu: A function was organized today at village KALEON (SUCHETGARH) today in memory of SEP. RAMESH LAL, who sacrificed his life on 5th Sep 1998, at POONCH, while fighting the militants. SEP. RAMESH LAL belonged to 8 DOGRA Bn. and he comes from a family of brave JATS, who migrated from DEV-WATALA (now in POK) and settled at Suchetgarh International Border.
Sqn. Ldr. R S CHIB, VSM (Retd.) FORMER MINISTER was the chief guest on this occasion and a large number of civil society members, attended and paid rich tributes to the SHAHEED RAMESH LAL. Mr Chib while talking to media persons described Sep. RAMESH a brave soldier, who sacrificed himself, for the Nation and we are all proud of him. Mr Chib also lauded the role of our Security Forces, including, the Paramilitary and police in defending our frontiers. He made a special reference about the enhancement of our Defence capability, during the last decade and said that our Armed Forces are fully prepared to face any aggression by any country of the world.
Mr. Chib also appreciated the role of our civil population, for their excellent co-operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), deployed along the International Border of SUCHETGARH.
The function was organized by Ms. PARAMJIT KOUR, the sister of Sep. Ramesh Lal and also his nears and dears. Col. Randhawa also spoke and paid tributes on behalf of RAJYA SAINIK BOARD, J&K. The wreath was also laid by the Army Personnel of 162 INFANTRY BRIGADE and all other important participants.
RAMLAL SHARMA, SDM, R S Pura, Surinder Singh Bhau, SDPO, R S Pura, Ch. Manmohan Singh, President J&K JAT SABHA, Brig. PAWAN SONTRA, Sarpanch ONKAR SINGH, GURMIT SINGH and ARJUN SINGH also paid their tributes to Shaheed RAMESH LAL.
