Jammu: Upholding National Flags and carrying play card hoardings at large Pahari Tribe ST Forum held a peaceful Youth/Students rally at Dak Bungalow, Rajouri. Chanting National slogans of pride and unity crowd demanded the earliest rendering of much promised due ST status to the marginalized, downtrodden and squeezed Pahari Tribe. Later delegation also submitted representation to the higher official of district administration, Rajouri including ADDC Pawan Parihar ADC Sachin Dev Singh and Ad. SSP Vivek Shekhar.
Pertinent to mention recently Jammu and Kashmir Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission has submitted its interim and supplementary reports to the Government on reservations to Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Paharis and inclusion of new areas and castes in the OBC category.
A final call is now expected to be taken shortly by the Jammu and Kashmir Government followed by the Union Home Ministry after which the issue of reservations will go to the Parliament.
Interacting during the rally speakers in one voice raised concerns of their down trodden condition and appealed GOI to furnish their due long pending demand of ST status during the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament.
The speakers also pointed this time centre is lead by a government having complete majority and a PM with firm conviction who can address this genuine demand of much deprived tribe. From time to time different committees declared Pahari as the downtrodden ethnicity.
Further added that since 1989 every government befooled Pahari tribe and for mere political gains again and again assured with false promises but now general public of the tribe has full faith that this government must address the issue. They recalled all CMs , Governors and even past PM's recommended and assured the ST status to the much deprived ethnicity but unfortunately the promise not fulfilled till yet.
