Jammu: Indian Army organised a lecture on cyber crimes in Mendhar in District Poonch (J&K). The trend of cyber fraud and crime is on the rise, hence Indian Army took initiative to spread awareness amongst populace comprising of youth on precautions to be taken while using devices connected to the Internet. Large number of youth from Mendhar and adjoining villages attended the lecture. The participants were made aware about various types of cyber and internet crimes and measures to prevent cyber crimes like hacking, ransom ware, espionage, financial theft, phishing activities and other internet related crimes. Precautions required to be undertaken while using the social media like Facebook, Whatsapp etc were emphasised and necessity of security measures like using genuine softwares, firewalls, antivirus etc were explained in detail. The initiative was greatly appreciated by the people, who expressed their gratitude for the knowledge imparted to them.
