JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir’s speed skating contingent stunned the countrymen by producing three national champions Puneesh Puri, Udhay Narayan and Rajveer Singh in the recently concluded 59th RSFI National Roller Skating Championship (speed) held in GR International School, Rohini, New Delhi from December 11 to 20.
In total J&K squad bagged 10 medals with five gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals. G S Khurmi President Jammu Kashmir Roller Skating Association (JKRSA) felicitated the UT contingent for the splendid feat and wished players good luck for the upcoming competitions. He said that JKRSA will do everything possible to ensure that the skaters from J&K excel in the national and international arena.
He specifically applauded the new national champions from the UT and other medal winners for showing exemplary grit and agility to achieve the success which only few can accomplish. He said that JKRSA will continue to pursue its endeavour to ensure that players associated with the association can give stirring performances at national and international arenas.
Pertinently, Jammu Kashmir Roller Hockey had also performed well and won three gold medals for Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The medalists were cadet boy, senior boys and inline senior boys, master above 30 boys.
Meanwhile, Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gul in presence of Divisional Sports Officer Ashok Singh JKRSA President G S Khurmi, Manager Indoor Stadium Satish Gupta expressed happiness over the outstanding performance of the J&K Squad in speed skating competition in 59th national competition.
They appreciated JKRSA line of action in promoting speed skating in the UT of J&K. prior to national competition, Sports Council under stewardship of Nuzhat Gul and able guidance Ashok Singh held screening of the contingent that took part in the 59th national competition.
The individual medals include Puneesh Puri (U-11) two gold medals in 500+D and 1000 meters, Udhay Narayan (U-14) two gold medals in 1 Lap road and 500+D, and one silver medal in 1000 meters, Rajveer Singh (U-17) one gold medal in 1000 meters, one silver in 1 Lap road and a bronze in 500+D, Samarjot Singh ( U-17) one silver in 1000 meters and Tamanna Saini (u-14 girls) one bronze in 1 Lap road. The team was accompanied by the Manager Ratnish Puri, Jatinder Sharma and Kamal Anand (Coach) as official (STC) in the championship
