Jammu: BJP J&K General Secretary and Former MLC Vibodh Gupta accompanied by convener BJP border area welfare cell, J&K Brijeshwar Singh Rana, today visited border town Arnea and interacted with the locals there. Addressing the gathering in the area, Vibodh saluted the people in the border areas who have made huge sacrifices for the sake of the country. He said that along with our Army the border people are also sentinels of our country. It is because of these people living in the border areas that every citizen of our country feels secure, Vibodh remarked. He further added that the sacrifices made by the people of borders need due recognition and the BJP Government under the able leadership of PM Modi has taken many welfare programmes for the people living in these border areas.
Throwing light on various historic welfare measures by the central Government for the border people, Vibodh said that the past blunders by earlier Governments are being corrected through these efforts. He informed that people living on the International borders are now entitled for 4% reservation. At present because of the initiatives of the Modi Government the family of any shelling victim is entitled for a job for one person along with compensation of Rs. 1 Lakh, similarly for death of animals because of shelling the owner is entitled for a compensation of Rs. 50,000, Vibodh elaborated. In addition to this large number of permanent bunkers in these areas provide a safe and secure environment to the border people which has prevented regular migration from these areas.
During the meeting the locals also raised various issues faced by them. They informed the visiting delegation that current time is the peak time for their Basmati Rice crop and for this they must get an uninterrupted supply of electricity. They also raised the issue of the bad condition of various irrigation channels which have almost choked because of siltation. Reacting to this Vibodh, immediately called concerned senior Government officials about these issues who have assured the early redressal of these. He assured everyone present that the central Government under the visionary leadership of PM Modi is fully committed to develop all the areas situated along the country’s border.
In his address Brijeshwar Singh Rana said that today road infrastructure of borders is also improving. This provides better connectivity for locals and also facilitates faster movement of Army during the time of need.
