Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing organises International Nurses Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale
‘Interests of Jammu youth can’t be allowed to be compromised’
Kakryal, Mya 11: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, organised several events as part of the celebration of International Nurses Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, pioneer of modern nursing. These events included academic, cultural, photography and short film competitions as well as a food festival.
Maj. Gen. S. K. Sharma (Retd), Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of Governing Body of SMVDCoN, was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he threw light on the celebration of International Nurses Day and highlighted the important role of nursing in the field of health care. He added that nursing is a noble profession and one of the best career options having a vast scope of employability. Earlier, he lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the commencement of the function.
Dr. (Brig.) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator of SMVDCoN, who was the Guest of Honour at the function, spoke about the theme of this year’s International Nurses Day.
Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal, SMVDCoN, dwelt on the important role of nursing in the field of the health sector. Ms. Artika Katal, Vice President of Student Nurses Association (SNA), SMVDCoN gave welcome address while vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Sakshi Bhagat, General Secretary, SNA.
Among those present at the function were faculty, staff and students of SMVDCoN.
