Jammu (Kakryal), May 10: The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital's tertiary care Superspeciality hospital at Kakryal at Jammu, in one of its kind lifesaving performed treatment, performed complex cardiac surgeries on two of India’s war veteran soldiers.
Both the patients were referred to the hospital for cardiac surgeries due to the high level of calcium deposits in the heart vessel walls, creating prolonged cardiac problems for the two. One of the patients is 66 years old whereas the other is 71 years old.
The patients when admitted to the hospital underwent several tests at the hospital and were diagnosed with seven blocks in the heart which needed immediate surgical treatment.
Under the leadership of Dr Nikhil Mahajan, Cardiologist along with eminent Cardiologist Dr Hemant Maadan, at The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, both the patients were successfully operated with rotablation technique, which is the rarest form of surgeries for cardiac treatment. The surgeries were a combination of rotablation with stenting which is a complex cardiac intrusion.
One of the two patients underwent a rare combination of Permanent Pacemaker Implantation with rotablation stenting.
Dr Nikhil Mahajan, said, “Coronary artery problems are a result of the ageing process in the patients. The rotablation is clinically rewarding and could be safely accomplished with very low complications in a very complex of the blocking in the heart. The rotablation is a boon for the elderly as they can opt for it without having to undergo Bypass surgery.”
Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer at the hospital said, “It is a myth that such high-end procedures and techniques are available only in metro cities. Such critical treatment can be offered at our hospital which is equipped with world-class medical facilities, qualified professional expert doctors and superior medical support staff. The hospital is proud to be a preferred tertiary care hospital in Jammu & Kashmir.”
