Indian Army organised awareness lectures on Asthma on ‘World Asthma Day’
Udhampur, May 08: In consonance with Army's ongoing efforts to educate the local population, the Indian Army organised awareness lectures on Asthma on ‘World Asthma Day’ at Lam, Gool, Bagga, Samote, Makhidhar and Batsiyala.
These lectures were aimed at impressing upon the minds that “Prevention is better than Cure”.The lectures elaborately covered that the Asthma disease is both preventable and curable. The symptoms of Asthma disease were covered in detail which included that shortness of breath or breathlessness, frequent or persistent cough, wheezing and tightness in the chest.
Also, the preventive methods like vaccination for influenza and pneumonia, identification of Asthma triggers, monitoring of breathing, identification and treatment of attacks, medication and quick relief through inhaler use were also covered during the lectures. The participants showed full interest to know about the preventive methods of the Asthma disease.
These general awareness programmes were well received by the local populace and it was heartening to see the enthusiasm and interest shown by the young participants. These events will surely strengthen the synergy and cooperation between the Men in Uniform and civil populace. Locals expressed their gratitude towards the Army and requested for more such events in future.
