Jammu, Oct 17: On the first day of Holy Nine-day Navratras, former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta paid obeisance at ancient Maha Kali Temple at Bahu Fort and prayed for the peace and prosperity of the Union Territory.
While interacting with the devotees there, former Deputy Chief Minister said that these occasions and festivals serve as a great opportunity for people to come together and celebrate the festivals and the spirit of India.
“The festival of Navratri is starting from today. But this time the effect of the coronavirus pandemic is clearly visible on the festivals too. In this holy festival of Maa Durga, even though there is not as much celebration and beauty this year, the goddess will be welcomed with devotion like always. Everyone's wish is for the pandemic crisis to end with the arrival of the mother,” Kavinder said.
“May Maa Durga help us all to overcome COVID-19 pandemic and bless us with a happy and healthy life,” he said, adding that celebration of such festivals bring people together and cement the bonds of brotherhood and communal harmony. He hoped that this auspicious occasion will usher Jammu and Kashmir in peace.
Meanwhile, Kavinder Gupta along with Corporator Surjeet Singh Chowdhary and District President, Vinay Gupta started work of culvert near Chandi Mata Mandir at Sector 9, Nanak Nagar with an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh.
Former Deputy Chief Minister said that this was the long pending demand of people which has been addressed with the due efforts of concerned Corporator. He said that BJP is committed to provide best of its calibre facilities to public of Jammu and with full support and coordination of people Jammu city will reach the new heights. Besides this work and those which stand completed; several other developmental works are still in the pipeline which would be executed in a phased manner, he added.
Kavinder Gupta said that under the patronage of PM Modi; BJP is working on the mantra of Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas in J&K keeping in view the issues and demands of people. He asked the executing agency to complete the work in a speculated time frame with quality material and adhere to Covid-19 SOPs at the construction site and also appealed to the people to keep a check that quality material is being used while carrying out the development work.
Corporator Surjeet Singh Chowdhary expressed gratitude to Kavinder Gupta for his presence and said that more related works are in pipeline for the concerned Ward.
