JAMMU, Jun 27: Nirbhay Bharat Foundation today paid floral tributes to senior advocate and former President of the J&K High Court Bar Association, B.S Slathia who was passed away at PGI Chandigarh on Saturday morning. He was 70.
Tarun Uppal, Chairperson of the Foundation along with members paid tributes to the former president of Bar Association Jammu.
They prayed to Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give courage to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.
Uppal said that the demise of Slathia has created a vacuum in the society which can never be filled. He also threw light on the contributions of Slaathia who had always been in forefront for the cause of Jammuites and took part in several agitations for the welfare of people of Jammu region.
“Slathia spearheaded several agitations like AIIMS, holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh and CBI enquiry in Rasana gang-rape of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua, etc.,” he added.
Salathia is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
Among others who paid tributes included eminent journalist Sohail Kazmi, Former IAS Officer Mohammad Aslam Qureshi, Rajan Gupta, Ashwani Charak, Gulshan Rattan, Sukesh C Khajuria, Deepak Manhas, Shakti Gupta, Khalid Hussain and Adv. Maninder.
