Jammu, June 26: Drugs & Food Control Organisation, Jammu, observed “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” to highlight ill-effects of drug abuse and spread the message about the extreme cultural and economic harm of illicit drug use. The theme of this year is: “Better Knowledge for Better Care”
Amidst the post-COVID-19 precautions, awareness camps were organized in Jammu and other districts under the supervision of respective Assistant Drugs Controller which were attended by the representatives of Trade Fraternity, and they were impressed upon to raise awareness regarding ill effects of Drug Addiction among the masses.
On the occasion, informative literature on information about drug abuse was circulated through social media platforms like watts app and was also pasted at prominent places in the Chemist Shops.
The members of the Chemist Association were impressed upon to dispense pharmaceutical preparations comprising habit-forming ingredients strictly under rules to the needy patients.
Moreover, Trade Fraternity took an oath for making a “Drugs free society” and they assured their full cooperation to achieve this noble cause.
State Drugs Controller, Lotika Khajuria, appealed to the general public to join hands in the fight against the drug menace and eliminate this social evil from the society to make India a healthy nation.
