Now when the deadly Coronavirus has created fear psychosis among most of the population in the world also causing depression among many while scores of people, mostly labor class, walking on foot along with their families, including females and children of all ages, from one state to other to reach their homes in absence of public transport and many are seen carrying their little kids on their shoulders in the scorching heat of May for safety, on the other side this virus has changed way of life of thousands of people all over the country and Jammu is not lagging behind any other city where people have devised unique ways to keep themselves physically fit in the times when all Gyms are closed and morning and evening walks prohibited in public places. Since prohibitory orders under section 144 in vogue under which assembly of four or more people is not permissible in public places and Gyms closed since the middle of March last, most of the people can be seen these days walking on their rooftops or lawns of their houses during early morning and evening hours to stay fit. Not only youths but elders and females can be noticed busy these days walking for hours together to reduce their body fat. Those who had large tummies till a few months ago can visibly be seen with flat tummies or have been able to shed their extra body weight by remaining busy in walks. On the other hand, in the areas of those parts of the city where rooftops touch with neighbors, mostly in the old city, children can be seen playing cricket, badminton or other games of their interests which keep them busy and fit, the elders are busy with their walks amidst gossips with the neighbors. As every household has no work these days of lockdown except eating, sleeping, or watching television shows and using social media which adds more to their body weight, this is the unique way to keep people fit. As pedometer applications frequently available in the wrist watches or mobile phones these days, people can be seen counting their daily steps, burning of calories with the distance covered during each day, they are often engaged in discussions telling others how much weight they have reduced during the lockdown period and their future targets. And walk, according to health experts, helps in relieving stress which is the cause of concern during the ongoing lengthy lockdown period, when everybody is worried over their health. The walk, opine health experts, also boosts the immune system which is the only way to protect individuals from corona virus-related disease. All this has changed the lifestyle of most of the people during lockdown which is undoubtedly a healthy sign of a healthy society. Moreover, most of the people, not only in Jammu or India but the world over have started relying on the age-old tradition of focusing on a healthy diet rich in fibers, healthy spices, and herbs which is believed in keeping our ancestors away from the modern times' diseases including hypertension, diabetes, kidney, and cardiac-related problems.
