The Northern Herald team is back to you after a long gap of over a decade after launching its first edition on January 16, 1996, at a time when the whole world is facing the Coronavirus pandemic with uncertainty everywhere causing depression and anxiety among millions of people all over the world as scores of people are losing their lives, jobs, livelihood causing poverty and leaving people with the feeling of despair. This is not the time to think how the deadly virus COVID-19 appeared on earth, whether if its nature’s fury or man-made in laboratories, rather it is the time to think how the whole mankind can get rid of this menace which if not controlled in time, has the ability to destroy the whole civilization on the earth in a span of a short time as it has started mutation which is a very dangerous situation. It is not that the efforts are going completely in vain to combat this deadly virus but the worry is that the scientists who are working day and night continuously have not yielded any result so far during these four or five months since the first news of this virus came into light.
India is perhaps the first country in the world to take any effective steps to combat the COVID-19 by taking early proactive measures to stop the spread of this virus by announcing Janata curfew followed by Lockdown of 21 days and further extended by 19 days so as to creating awareness among the people to isolate themselves following certain guidelines issued by health experts and scientists which include practising social distancing, adaptation of healthy lifestyle habits which includes Yoga, breathing exercises, adapting proper hygiene routine and eating healthy food to improve the immune system, which the rest of the world is also following. People of the country are giving their cent per cent support to the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi due to which India is currently at a better situation considering its huge population as compared to the rest of the world as everyone is trying to defeat the virus.
However, on economic front India as well as the rest of the world is hit badly with youth losing jobs, their hopes shattering, uncertain future, losses in almost every sector, gloomy future with no hope of early revival insight. The Indian government is doing its best by extending a helping hand to the weaker sections of the society by way of providing free ration, LPG, transferring cash in the accounts of economically weaker sections and ensuring at the same time that necessary items for survival are available to all in all the cities, villages and towns of the country. Extending their support the people are following along by donating whatever is needed by the society including cash, even small kids are not lagging behind by donating their small savings.
At this critical juncture, the team of Northern Herald is back to you seeking support, valuable suggestions so that we can serve you with valuable stuff keeping in view the interests of various sections of the society including the younger generation, elders, critics, sportspersons and the children with information-packed stuff at the right time. Once again we hope that we, in our joint efforts will win the battle against the coronavirus.
