Nami Dogri Sanstha organises special programme to celebrate the birth centenary of Ustad Allah Rakha
Jammu, May 04: Nami Dogri Sanstha (Regd.) organised a special programme to celebrate the birth centenary of Ustad Allah Rakha Ji, world-renowned Tabla Maestro and son of the soil at K L Sehgal Hall. On the occasion, NDS conferred "Ustad Allah Rakha Ji Award" to eminent, renowned and veteran tabla player of the state Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina.
Shri D. C. Raina, Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir state was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Jenab Mohd. Aslam Qureshi IAS (Retd) presided over the function. Sohail Kazmi, Veteran Journalist was Special Guest. Shri Sachin Sharma, CEO, Om Palace was guest of honour and Shri Rohit Chaudhary social and RTI activist was special invitee on the occasion.
Roshan Bral a literary personality read a detailed paper in Dogri on life and works of Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina. Parshotam Kumar performed on Tabla accompanied by Shri Raj Kumar Sharma who gave Nagma on harmonium.
Capt. Lalit Sharma IFS in his inaugural and opening address while paying rich tributes to the son of the soil Late Shri Allah Rakha Ji said that a proud Dogra world renowned Tabla Maestro with his magic fingers rocked the whole world. He lauded this great son of a soldier turned farmer after retirement who was born in Ghagwal town and popularised the art of tabla playing all over the world. While lauding another son of the soil and Tabla Maestro of the state Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina, he said that following the footsteps of Allah Rakha Ji he also explored new horizons of Tabla playing with his magic figures and brought laurels to the State.
D. C. Raina in his address said that Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina has taken forward the Dogra Legacy of tabla playing following the footsteps of Allah Rakha Ji with same zeal and dedication took tabla playing to new heights. Shri Raina is the most befitting person to be felicitated on the occasion.
Sachin Sharma lauded the long and tireless struggle of Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina for scaling new heights in the field of tabla playing.
Rohit Choudhary said that struggle and lifetime achievements of Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina are a source of inspiration for the budding artist of the state.
Sohail Kazmi said that we get infused with pride when we read on internet Jenab Allah Rakha as Dogra artist who thundered the world with his mesmerizing beats.
Mohammed Aslam Qureshi in his presidential address describes Allah Rakha Ji the proud son of the soil, a bright star who twinkled on the horizons of Art and Culture magnificently. He said that a humble Dogra bestowed with favourable opportunities has the potential to become a world leader in any discipline and that holds true in case of Allah Rakha Ji.
He said that dedication sincerity, hard work and persistent efforts of Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina to perform and establish himself up to national and international levels is a source of inspiration for the young artists to follow the as iconic figure.
Dogra Harish Kaila, President, NDS demanded that new Artists Club coming up in the Abhinav Theatre Complex be named after Allah Rakha and an annual award for the promising artist be instituted by the Cultural Academy on the name of this world-renowned legendary Tabla Maestro.
Yashpal Yash conducted the program eloquently, extended vote of thanks to the participants and congratulate Mrs. Sudesh Raj, former Programme Executive of AIR, wife of Shri Rajinder Kumar Raina, his son - in - law, his daughter Saweti and his family members for providing an opportunity to NDS to honour and felicitate Shri Raina.
