Manipal Hospitals Delhi conducts OPDs in Jammu
Jammu, December 20: Manipal Hospital Delhi, part of India’s leading healthcare network successfully saved the life of a 52-year-old patient, Kapil (name changed), by removing atrial myxoma from her heart through minimally invasive surgery. A team of doctors led by Dr. Yugal Kishore Mishra, Head of Cardiac Sciences & Chief Cardio Vascular Surgeon, performed the procedure.
Kapil had started experiencing breathlessness and palpitations because of which she consulted Dr. Mishra at Manipal Hospitals. The patient had too much chest pain and was undergoing massive breathlessness.
The head cardiac surgeon Dr. Y.K. Mishra immediately advised for Right Atrium Myxoma Surgery. Tests revealed that the patient was suffering from intra-cardiac tumour measuring 10x6cm in size. The tumour was attached to the interatrial septum, extending from the right atrium to the right ventricular across the tricuspid valve, approaching towards the right ventricular outflow tract.
On the success of the procedure, Dr. Yugal Kishore Mishra, Chief of Clinical Services, Head of Cardiac Sciences & Chief Cardio Vascular Surgeon, Manipal Hospital Delhi said “Myxomas are the most common primary cardiac tumours in adults and are most commonly found within the left atrium. Considering the gravity of the situation, we had to perform minimally invasive surgery. Besides the tumour removal, we also had to perform tricuspid valve repair which is a process to treat diseases affecting the tricuspid valve.”
The patient was discharged within 8 days, is all hail, and heart now.
